On Monday, Nov. 9, UTMB will begin offering the H1N1 vaccine to all direct health care providers (listed by the CDC as a priority group for the vaccine). Click the following links for specific information about dates, locations, times and eligibility.
We strongly encourage those who provide direct health care, who come in contact with bodily fluids and who enter patient rooms in the course of their work to get vaccinated by Nov. 20. You will receive a vaccination notice once you’ve been vaccinated. Please give this notice to your supervisor so we can effectively track our efforts to protect our patients, employees, students and visitors.
Once we have a sufficient supply of the H1N1 vaccine, we plan to encourage all UTMB employees and students to get vaccinated.
SECC Campaign – Need a good reason to give?As we approach the second week of the 2009 SECC campaign, think about these comments from a member of the UTMB community, “ I know many people with Multiple Sclerosis who are not as fortunate and have it much tougher. So, I give because I can walk, can work, can have fun, can appreciate life and can help others.” Appreciate what you have and consider helping others by giving to the SECC. Remember, you can give where you live this year. For more information, contact Becky Walsdorf at extension 27834.

UTMB’s preventive medicine team reached out to many people in the community and educated them on hypertension, cholesterol and basic nutrition.

As UTMB turns its focus to the bright future ahead, it must forge a strong framework for success. One element of that framework is the university’s mission, vision and values statements. Together, they define our fundamental purpose, our desired future, our very culture. They have the power to guide decision-making, and to inform and inspire not only members of the UTMB community but also those who believe in our mission. To do so, these statements must ring true and they must be memorable. The Council of Deans is seeking broad input on the existing mission statement, with a goal of having recommendations to the UT System by the end of the calendar year. We encourage you to be a part of this timely and important process. Please go to Revising the UTMB Mission Statement to offer your suggestions.
